Abstract Art Workshop with megan krzmarzick

An evening of creative exploration in abstract art with painter, writer, and cancer survivor Megan Krzmarzick

About this Event

Join us for an evening of creative exploration in abstract painting! I'll give you the tools to make an original piece of art, and walk you through ways to develop your own creative practice. Natural inspiration will be provided by Coy & Co., a woman-owned curatorial floral company based in Portland, Ore., with other treats TBD!

What does my registration include? Your registration includes all of your materials including art supplies and a mini workbook, as well as beverages + light snacks, a personal gift, and a fresh hand bouquet from Coy & Co. to take home.

Who is Megan? I'm a visual artist, writer, and cancer survivor living and working in Portland, Oregon, using bold and dramatic color and texture in my work to give form to feeling, capturing deep and resonate emotion and energy, exploring themes of creative identity and healing. I wrote a hand-painted poetry zine “Running Away from Home," that's carried at Powell’s Books and shown art most recently in a solo show at The Good Mod (a custom mid-century modern furniture house), at Blanc Space in Portland as part of a multi-disciplinary show on identity, and as a performer at the Future Prairie Queer Variety Show. I write about women artists around the world on Art Baby. Find out more on my website and follow me on Instagram!

Get It, Together: Listening Sessions With Women on Racial Equity and Partnership

Get It, Together: Listening Sessions With Women on Racial Equity and Partnership

Women can and do change the world. And today’s geopolitical climate has activated and enlivened powerful and hard conversations that matter between and across all dimensions of difference.

As a white woman and a woman of color, we at Moementum seek to understand more about partnership and problems between women like us at work. While there have been improvements in the status of women globally, we still have a very long way to go, and white women have benefited disproportionately from the women’s rights movement of the last 150 years. Racial tensions are out there, and white fragility is real, and we have work to do.

Eventually, and as a result of these listening sessions, we envision a new workshop and conversation between white women and women of color that tangibly provides tools and skills for finally elevating all of us together. We want to Get It (Together) in the truest sense. We want to get into real partnership. We want to get honest. We want to get real. We want to get through the dark middle. We want to get enlivened. We want to get healed. We want to get equity. We want to get each other. We want to get messy. We want to get the hand we also want to give.

But before we want to offer solutions, we want to listen. Hard. Deep. Fast. With curioisity and to understand. So, while we are on the Bravespace Tour, we are hosting structured dialogue sessions for white women and women of color to explore how we work together and where we don’t; what gets in the way; where it hurts; where it works.

These 3-hour sessions will be structured and facilitated with approriate boundaries for safety even as they invite courage. We won’t be offering solutions or ideas or tips or tools or anything tangible to take away. We expect to end them with more questions than answers. We agree to tolerate the ambiguity and confusion we may open up.

We promise that every woman who attends will be named and credited as helping shape our work (if you choose) and you will the absolute first to be invited to any next steps or programming we develop.

Join us. Let’s talk, listen, and get it. Together.

DOERS Council Meet-up | Tax Season - What You Need to Know!

We all learn by making mistakes. But what if we don't have to make the mistakes ourselves to learn? What if we could compress all the wisdom and experience from the people around us into knowledge that we can use to overcome and avoid pitfalls? What if we had a community of supportive doers to walk beside us on our journey?

Welcome to DOERS.

Doers is a series of monthly meet-ups hosted by The Weller Society where small business owners, creatives, and entrepreneurs hang out and share their ideas, experiences, and insights into a variety of topics.

For this month's session, we will be talking about what you need to know for tax season!
